2008 craft of writing series kick-off! \o/

Hey all! Guess what? DS_Workshop's hiatus is over! We'll be starting off a new series of Workshop posts next week with a post from nos4a2no9 about the RCMP. YAY!!

What we need now are volunteers to go in the weeks after Nos.

How to volunteer:
1. Go pick out a question from the master question list. There are still LOTS of craft of writing/DS-specific questions there that haven't been answered, or you can take a subject that HAS been answered and discuss it from another angle. Also, if you don't find anything you want to lead a discussion on, you can add a new question to the list (by commenting to it) and then volunteer to answer your own question (sneaky, eh? *g*).

2. Comment below claiming the topic you want to cover.

I'd love it if we could go back to having people post once every week or two.

Last, if anyone has any questions about how this works or suggestions for making this a better workshop, please either leave a comment here or email me!

hey, it turns out i'm going to be on vacation out of town the 16th to the 24th. i can definitely have the post done by the end of this week, but i won't be at my computer all that much to participate in discussion. is it okay if i post the 25th? sorry to be a flake, but hopefully that does give you a bit more time to line up someone to go after me---and if you'd rather i post earlier anyway, i can do that. so let me know.

Oooh, ok. Um, is there any chance of you posting like a part one and part two? Because avoiding generic sex scenes IS a huge topic and splitting it up might actually get more people to read.

Just a thought.

Failing that, posting on the 25th is fine! :D

sure, i can do that! so look for a part one that's like, general philosophy of sex scenes plus a couple specific suggestions probably around this thursday or friday, and then on the 25th, a part two that's more specific tips and some special genre stuff (kinkfic, casual sex, etc), plus some tips for more experienced sex scene writers who feel like they've lost the spark. does that sound good?

hey sageness--so i've got the full post mostly written, and, um, it's easily 5000 words. i can certainly try to cut it down if you'd prefer, or i can break it up into more posts, or...? i was gonna break it into 2 like you suggested, but...2500 words isn't THAT long, but it's also kind of a big chunk to expect a lot of people to read at once. however, i'm also not sure what kind of a posting schedule you have at this point, and i definitely don't want to hog the comm.
