I have a totally dumb question that I don't know where to ask, so I thought I'd hurl it here at this concentration of writerly Canadians.
Every cabin scene in due South seems to show the front door opening directly from the living space to the great snowy north. Huh?
Down here around the 45th parallel, we have a handy invention called the entryway. There's the outside door, there's a short hallway with a bench to take off your boots, and then there's the inside door. One never opens both doors at the same time. The entryway serves as an airlock, minimizing heat transfer between Out There and In Here.
I know that igloos have entryways, so why not NWT cabins?
