I adore RayK, which is mainly due to the fact that CKR brought me to fandom but I think I prefer early Fraser.
I adore RayK also, and it was Ray (and by extension CKR) that really drew me into the fandom. It sounds odd, but I didn't appreciate Fraser nearly as much until I discovered Slings & Arrows and realised just how good an actor Paul Gross really was. And then I went back and rewatched and fell completely splat for Fraser. Because he is complex, and he's not just a carbon cutout. That's the whole point of his character, and I think Paul did an amazing, subtle job of showing it.
Do you, by any chance, remember which video you posted as an argument that he is not insecure around women.
It was the scene from VS where Fraser grabs Victoria, shuts the door behind her and kisses her. He's not the tiniest bit insecure in that scene, he's not even thinking about anything like that. If I can find another link I'll repost--it makes me happy to know that people still read this, so I like to have it all neat and tidy. :D
