Ah - I posted a comment yesterday but LJ must have eated it: I looked at the first of your links and saw the snow and the light and the sky and fell in love. Mr Lamentables rolled his eyes when I mentioned this (he is not a fan of cold weather).
I'm still mulling over ideas for fic, which is closer than I thought I'd ever get. I have written original stuff but not fanfic and I didn't think I'd ever want to. That's not because I don't approve (obviously) or think it's inferior, it's all about feeling I can know someone that I make up myself and struggling to get my head around sharing a character with so many other people. And then there's the language issue with my being even more English than I previously realised...
