So they had no problem with him per se, but they didn't buy MY reasoning. It was fascinating, really, because it was a classic case of complete blindness where their assumptions as readers were concerned.
I'm really intrigued that they didn't read it as you getting his character wrong--is it just that no one would actually say, "Spock is alway right," or was the fact that he was wrong completely separate from his characterization? I'm understanding from your description that it was a case of the latter, but I'm honestly having a bit of trouble figuring out how that works.
